Many new vehicles in this game – including supercars, superbikes, muscle cars and even choppers. Say goodbye to those natural environments that we’ve come to associate with the MotorStorm series and say hello to “The City” – the first urban setting for a MotorStorm game.

Players race through the tracks which change in real-time (bridges can buckle, buildings can collapse and rifts open up beneath the vehicles). Vehicles can be customized with graphics and a host of additional parts. Players can also create and design their own game rules for online tournaments. A new gameplay element is the addition of “air cooling” one’s boost. Similar to driving through cool water in Pacific Rift would speed up the rate of boost cooling, releasing the accelerator over a large jump will also cause the boost temperature gauge to drop quicker.

A new challenge in Apocalypse are the introduction of people who will try to interfere in the event. The city houses two factions who will vie for survival. These groups will try to impede the progress of the racers. They will loot from broken buildings, break into fights on the streets, steal cars and try to slam racers off the road, and attack racers with their firearms. A private military company will attempt to enforce order and their involvement will also create obstacles for racers to overcome (such as an attack helicopter firing missiles onto the track).

Killzone 3′s story will also be more light-hearted compared to its predecessor, which Guerrilla felt suffered from an overly serious and dark story which was one of the major complaints of the original, though they mentioned that it would not be too light-hearted as it is still a war. In addition, Guerrilla Games has hired an external writer to focus on only writing the storyline so as to give a fresh perspective to the story as well as hiring a lot more Hollywood actors to elevate the level of storytelling within the dialogue of the game.

The gameplay will strongly resemble that of Killzone 2 albeit with several tweaks and changes. Similar to the first Killzone, the game will take place in various harsh environments such as Arctic landscapes, a lethal alien jungle, nuclear wastelands as well as space battles rather than only the city-scape environments which were present in Killzone 2. Another notable new feature is the ability to use jet packs in the game, which were also used in Killzone: Liberation, however, these new jet packs will be used in a different manner than that of those in Killzone: Liberation.

Pure Hitting allows you to stride and swing using the Right Analog Stick, Pure Pitching functionality incorporates a new Pitch Meter when setting strength and location, and Pure Throwing can be used to make defensive throws by simply pointing the Right Analog Stick in the direction of the base, also allowing for fake throws to keep runners honest.

Also, the Co-op Mode enables up to four-player cooperative play (offline or online) – gamers can split duties covering either the infield or outfield, while also switching off at the plate or choosing the specific batters they’d like to control.

On the cover is Joe Mauer (also featured in this clip) – however it is rumoured that Felix Hernandez may replace Mauer as the cover boy. The exciting soundtrack includes Big Pun, 311, Edgar Winter, The Scissors and more.
